Here are just a few ways you can make a difference in your local community:
Organize an event!
- Organize Sonia Kovalevsky Days at your campus. More info found here.
- Organize an evening of research talks on your campus. You could invite other graduate students in your department and supportive faculty who could provide feedback on presentation styles.
- Help organize a math competition for high/middle school students.
Volunteer your time!
- Contact a local high school and volunteer your great math skills to tutor students.
- Get ahold of a high school counselor and set up a visit during a career day where you could speak about your experiences in becoming a mathematician. Keep in mind that very few high school students know that being a mathematician is a career option.
